Celebrity X Factor’s Megan McKenna has three songs in the charts

Megan McKenna’s original songs are dominating the iTunes charts thanks to Celebrity X Factor.

Last Saturday evening (November 2) saw the second live episode of the new Celebrity X Factor, which welcomes familiar faces from the worlds of music, film, sport, television and social media to compete for a life-changing recording contract.

Megan performed another original song called Stronger which received glowing praise from judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.

The performance saw Megan sail through to the next live show and now her track is heading up the charts, alongside two other songs.

At the time of writing, Megan’s song This from the first live show is at Number 8 on iTunes with Stronger at Number 10. They’re joined by Everything but You – which Megan performed for her audition – at Number 29.

Although all of the latest performances have been released to iTunes, only Megan’s music is currently appearing in the Top 100 downloads on iTunes.

Megan’s success follows her dismissing claims she has an ‘unfair advantage’ on the show after previously releasing an album.

She told the Radio Times: “Obviously I sing, and I’ve been recording in the past but it’s never been on the scale of what this could be. This is for a major record label.

“I’m just the same as everybody else. This is my dream and I’m just hoping that this show can just be the start really as I want to do this full-time.”

Given her success in the charts, it’s perhaps little surprise that Megan this week has become the odds-on favourite to win The X Factor: Celebrity.

“Although many think it’s unfair that an established singer like Megan is allowed to enter, she is attracting more support than all the other acts put together, and we think only a poor performance can stop her now,” said Star Sports bookmakers spokesman, Gary Burton.

Max and Harvey and V5 are both 6-1 joint second favourites, with Vinnie Jones next at 14-1.

Martin Bashir had a lucky escape on Saturday, avoiding elimination after forgetting his words, but the news reader is still 8-11 to be the 5th to be voted off next weekend.

The X Factor: Celebrity series continues Saturday nights on ITV.

The next round of live performances airs next weekend on November 9 from 8:10PM.
