Following the success of Love Island’s revival, a reprise of the Celebrity version has been called for.
Love Island has proved a huge hit for ITV2 ever since it premiered in 2015.
Three series have aired so far, each adding more and more viewers.
It’s in stark contrast to the original series – who some may well not remember.
Love Island first aired in 2005 and 2006 on the main ITV channel, then as a Celebrity series, and struggled in the ratings.
Model Calum Best, who won the show alongside Bianca Gascoigne, has suggested he wants a new all star version.
After a recent stint on E4’s Celebs Go Dating, still-single Calum said a new Celebrity Love Island would be perfect for him.
“I’ve done about four of them (dating shows) and none of them have got me a missus. I’m still looking, trust me,” he revealed this week.
Recalling his time on Love Island in 2005, Calum told The Sun newspaper: “I remember I went to Fiji – now they do it in Spain – for me it was in Fiji. It was an island you had to take a boat and they built this house. It was the f*****g time of my life. Six weeks I spent on this island in Fiji. Fed us. Gave us booze. Hot chicks. It was the dream. I’d be on that in a heartbeat.
“Even though I did that in 2005 I’d do that in a heartbeat.”
However Calum previously admitted that a lot had changed in what was shown on TV nowadays.
“When I did it you weren’t doing bits on telly whereas now they’re able to do things. It’s a lot more open,” he said.
Bianca, daughter of footballer Paul Gascoigne, has also said she’d love to return to the show.
“It’s probably one of the best experiences of my life,” she told The Sun newspaper. “If I was given the chance to go back there tomorrow I would.
“It was really amazing. It was such an eye opening experience.”
For the time being, Love Island will return on June 4 for its fourth season on ITV2.
Already plans are underway to make it the biggest show to date, with producers said to be working on an epic new twist to start the series.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “They’re planning on the season opener beginning with two big villas – just like they introduced midway through last series.
“And they want to throw in nearly double the amount of contestants to really stir things up.
“Planning is still in the early stages but what is for sure is that it’s going to be bigger than ever.”
A spokesperson for ITV insisted that no decisions had been made about the series.
