Britain’s Got Talent golden buzzer act Lifford Shillingford has revealed his semi-final song choice.
Earlier this month, we met 42-year-old singer Lifford Shillingford from South London.
The singer won the golden buzzer from Alesha Dixon and sailed straight through to the live shows which begin tonight.
Lifford is one of the first eight acts to perform this evening and has revealed his plans.
He told Britain’s Got More Talent at the weekend he would be singing The Beatles hit Yesterday.
But Lifford teased it would be a more “soulful version” than the original.
“We’re twisting it up and trying to do something different with it,” he said.
At his audition, Lifford revealed he had previously enjoyed brief success in the early 00s, appearing on the Artful Dodger’s hit Please Don’t Turn Me On.
Lifford sang ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ by Sam Cooke and his performance saw Alesha hitting the golden buzzer.
He reacted: “Thank you so much, thank you so much.”
Alesha explained her decision: “It felt right. I feel like it takes courage and bravery when you’ve been in the industry and it knocks you down and you came back.
“For you to be on that stage just singing raw, heart and soul, you deserve this moment.”
Joining Lifford on tonight’s show are dancers Cali Swing, comedian Lost Voice Guy, vocal group The D-Day Darlings, escapologist Matt Johnson, quick change act Ellie and Jeki, dancer Shameer Rayes and magician Maddox Dixon.
