Britain’s Got More Talent reportedly axed as bosses ‘focus on main show and social media’

Britain’s Got Talent’s ITV2 spin-off show More Talent has reportedly been axed.

Britain’s Got More Talent has aired alongside the main show for 12 years, hosted by Stephen Mulhern.

But according to The Sun newspaper, the series will not return in 2020.

Sources say that show bosses are instead wanting to focus on the main show and social media content.

“Stephen is a much-loved member of the BGT family and everyone loved him on the show,” an explained. “He is still incredibly busy, with lots of exciting projects for ITV. Behind the scenes, executives decided it was the right time to move on.

“It will be sad to bring the curtain down on it after so many years of laughs.

“But it is important to move with the times, and the reality is younger audiences who once watched it now consume a lot more of their content online.”

A spokesperson for Britain’s Got Talent told the newspaper: “As our 18-34 audience share continues to grow and viewing habits are changing, naturally we are listening to viewers and focusing more on digital platforms.”

Britain’s Got Talent will return in 2020 for what will be its fourteenth series with applications open now.

The show is currently hosted by Ant and Dec with judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

ITV recently aired new spin-off host Britian’s Got Talent: The Champions which saw acts from the past 13 years return.

They went head to head with acts from Got Talent series across the world in order to be crowned Champions of Champions.

In the grand final on Saturday, British dance duo Twist & Pulse won the title after first appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2010.
