Blind Date contestant stood up by his date

A Blind Date contestant has revealed how he was stood up on his date after the show.

Conor Ellison was set up with Rosie Allen on last Saturday night’s episode.

But the pair’s potential future together was in doubt from the moment host Paul O’Grady revealed the secret location of their date.

Rather than a trip abroad to a paradise destination, instead they were sent on a mountain biking holiday in Wales.

Rosie reacted on the show: “Are you serious? Can we get another envelope, please?”

Conor added: “I’ve been stitched up here.”

Conor says Rosie never turned up for their date, for unknown “personal reasons”.

He told the Daily Mirror: “Truthfully, Wales was s***. The weather was horrendous.”

However Conor, who instead got to enjoy the company of another woman, added: “There’s no hard feelings. If she couldn’t make it, she couldn’t make it.”

Tonight is the latest episode in a second series of Blind Date on Channel 5, airing at 8PM.

Although the show’s comeback has proved a hit, host Paul O’Grady previously admitted that he first said no when asked to front the revived series.

“When they asked me I said no, because it’s so firmly associated with Cilla,” he told the Daily Mirror newspaper. “Then I had a think and I had a mental image of her sitting on the couch with a glass of champagne, screaming with laughter.

“The producers said it felt like a natural progression and her son Robert said she’d be over the moon, so I said ‘Yeah, go on, I’ll do it’.”

The new show includes same sex couples and OAPs as the series offers to find love for anyone who’s single.

Meanwhile, Melanie Sykes will replace Graham Skidmore – affectionately known as ‘Our Graham’ – as the show’s voice over.
