Blind Britain’s Got Talent singer Sirine Jahangir gives powerful audition

A blind singer wowed the Britain’s Got Talent judges in this year’s auditions.

May 16th saw the sixth round of Britain’s Got Talent 2020 auditions on ITV.

One of the acts we met was 14-year-old singer Sirine Jahangir from London who shared with the panel how she had lost her vision at the age of nine.

“I remember watching Simon on television and thinking he looked scary. It sounds like he’s quite different now, he’s definitely nicer,” Sirine revealed.

She added: “Music is my vision and I guess that’s what I love.”

For her audition, Sirine performed a cover of ‘Salvation’ by Gabrielle Aplin, both singing and playing the piano.

Amanda Holden said: “I found the entire audition so poignant. You exclude lightness, it was just brilliant.”

Alesha Dixon commented: “What a sweet girl you are. You’re nervous, that’s understandable but you sang beautifully.”

David Walliams added: “Well done! What you couldn’t see was the whole of the Palladium on your feet applauding you because they loved that.”

Simon Cowell concluded: “I think I should be the first person to say yes.”

With four yeses, Sirine Jahangir sailed through to the next round where she stands the chance of making the semi-finals later this year.

Other acts appearing in the episode included VA Kidz who invited the judges on a trip to Wonderland, while the Lozkha Brothers gave spooning a whole new meaning.

We also met pianist (and stripper) Emmanuel Vass, magician Hakan Berg, tuba player Krysztof Werkowicz, dance group Immortals and knife-throwing act Claire-Marie and Jason.

As always, acts are competing for a top prize of £250,000 plus the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
