The BBC is reportedly lining up a new ‘replacement’ for The Great British Bake Off which will search for the UK’s best workplace bakers.
It has been over two years since BBC One lost Bake Off to rival network Channel 4.
Now the broadcaster is set to take advantage of the show’s popularity with a new format named ‘Flour Power’.
According to The Sun, the ‘on-the-road’ concept involves workplaces across the UK competing in their own baking competitions.
Each episode will see four staff members have their efforts judged by a panel of experts.
Those who do best will be named the ‘King or Queen Baker Of The Office’.
“Ever since The Great British Bake Off appeared on our screens, offices across the nation have been rife with bake-offs among their staff in fierce competition,” the paper’s source said.
“The Beeb is keen to tap into this phenomenon in a bid to capture some of the magic of Bake Off.
“It is convinced this tweaked format might do the trick.”
Bosses have yet to confirm any details about the show, but it will apparently air later this year.
The Beeb’s latest idea for a cookery programme follows two attempts at launching new shows with Bake Off stars.
The Big Family Cooking Showdown was presented by winning contestant Nadiya Hussain, although she left after one series.
Meanwhile, Mary Berry made her judging comeback on Britain’s Best Home Cook, which is fronted by Claudia Winkleman.
Channel 4 recently renewed The Great British Bake Off for a further two years.
