Anne Hegerty considers QUITTING I’m A Celebrity 2018 as camp divide twist begins

The Chase star roughing it in Snake Rock after losing race across a lake

The Red team has won Croc Creek in a camp divide twist on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! – but the Yellows’ rough base left Anne Hegerty thinking about QUITTING the show.

ITV’s jungle reality favourite returned tonight with contestants competing against each other to choose members for opposing teams.

The Red team ended up with Harry Redknapp, John Barrowman, Malique Thompson-Dwyer, Nick Knowles and Sair Khan.

Meanwhile, Anne Hegerty, Emily Atack, Fleur East, James McVey and Rita Simons formed the Yellow team.

That was only half the battle, as hosts Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoughby also revealed they’d be living in separate camps.

To decide who got the better camp, the teams had to race each other across a lake.

The first team to raise their flag on the other side would move in to the slightly more luxurious Croc Creek camp.

In addition, they’d win their evening meal and immunity from the first two Bushtucker Trials.

Thinking tactically, John decided to swim alongside the Red team rather than weigh their boat down further.

It was a wise move, as the Yellow team’s boat quickly started sinking as all five members got in.

The tactics paid off, as the Reds were first to reach the other side, declaring victory.

Despite the rivalry, they then got back in the water to help the Yellows back to dry land.

With their first day of challenges finally over, the celebs made their way in to the Australian outback.

Arriving at Croc Creek with the Reds, Sair said: “Walking into camp for the first time I was in total awe. It’s such a weird feeling.”

Meanwhile, John remarked: “To be here is kind of amazing. It’s really awesome.”

However, not everyone was happy with their new home for the next three weeks. “My God, that’s pretty basic isn’t it,” grumbled Harry, who admits he’s never watched the show before.

Even worse was Snake Rock, where the Yellows have to sleep on mats on the floor.

“I am so not down with spiders and insects crawling on me when I speak,” squealed Rita.

“Camp is beyond basic. It kind of all hits home the minute you walk in.”

In fact, it’s so sparse that Anne – who’s also never seen I’m A Celebrity – even contemplated calling it quits.

“I’m really close to saying I can’t do this,” sniffed the tearful Chaser.

Her teammates swiftly rallied round to offer support.

“It’s overwhelming. I think she was just expressing how we were all feeling, we just didn’t want to admit it!” commented Fleur.

“I feel like we all have to be there for her.”

It was the pick-me-up Anne needed, as she later told the Bush Telegraph: “I like them. They’re my team!”

I’m A Celebrity continues nightly at 9.00pm on ITV, with Extra Camp immediately afterwards on ITV2.
