Ackley Bridge returns to Channel 4 in 2018 for series 2 but what’s it all about and who’s on the cast?
Ackley Bridge is a Yorkshire mill town, home to largely divided white and Asian populations. Like the communities, the school systems have also become segregated.
However as two formerly isolated comprehensives are merged into a brand new academy, Ackley Bridge College, the lives and cultures of each are set to collide. Ackley Bridge explores modern Britain with irreverence, wit, close-to-the-knuckle humour, larger-than-life characters and big-hearted stories that affect the friendships, family life and relationships of teachers and pupils.
The new series’ air date continues on Tuesday, August 14 at 8PM on Channel 4.
Series 2 will run for 12 episodes.
Ackley Bridge cast
Jo Joyner, Paul Nicholls, Arsher Ali, Liz White, Sunetra Sarker, Adil Ray, Poppy Lee Friar and Amy Leigh Hickman all star in Ackley Bridge.
Joining for series 2, Kimberley Walsh will play Clare Butterworth, the feisty ex-wife of Steve (Paul Nicholls) and mother to their child Zak.
Kimberley Walsh’s new character Claire is set to ruffle some feathers when she turns up unannounced at Ackley Bridge. As Steve’s ex-wife, or ‘sly, home-wrecking netball teacher’ as Mandy (Jo Joyner) so delicately puts it, she had an agreement that she would stay away from the school.
Also joining Series two of Ackley Bridge is Vicky Entwistle, playing Sandra Turner, and Tony Jayawardena.
The Paracha family are rocked to the core when it is revealed that Iqbal (Narinder Samra) is not working in Pakistan. Crafty Iqbal had concocted the story to hide that he is living a double life, secretly living with Sandra (Vicky Entwistle) in Bradford with their two children.
Emotions run high when Nasreen (Amy Leigh Hickman) makes the shock discovery and her life as she knows it is torn apart.

Emma recruits Will (Tom Varey) in her plan to sabotage Chloe’s (Fern Deacon) relationship with her older boyfriend Tony (Anthony Lewis) but the arrival of Chloe’s dad Nik (Stuart Manning) throws a spanner in to the works.
