8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown is back for 2020 with new episodes – when does it start and who’s taking part?
Jimmy Carr will be back as host with an episode full of comic conundrums, surprises and laughs aplenty.
The latest series is currently airing Fridays at 9PM on Channel 4.
In episode 1 (July 31), Sean Lock and Kerry Godliman take on Jon Richardson and Joe Wilkinson. Mr Swallow – aka Nick Mohammed – joins Countdown’s resident lexicographer Susie Dent in Dictionary Corner, while Rachel Riley looks after the letters and numbers.
In Episode 2 (August 7), Jon Richardson and Tom Allen take on Sean Lock and Rosie Jones. Sean Bean – aka Adam Riches – joins Countdown’s resident lexicographer Susie Dent in Dictionary Corner, while maths whizz Rachel Riley is back with the letters and numbers
In Episode 3 (August 14), Sean Lock and Daisy May Cooper take on guest team captain Richard Ayoade and Ivo Graham. Adam Buxton is in Dictionary Corner with Susie Dent, and Joe Wilkinson joins Rachel Riley at the numbers board.
In Episode 4 (August 21), a compilation of the best bits from recent series of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Jimmy Carr, Sean Lock and Jon Richardson, and Countdown regulars Susie Dent and Rachel Riley, are joined by a host of top comedians, including Alan Carr, Richard Ayoade, Kathy Burke, Roisin Conaty, Joe Wilkinson, Johnny Vegas, Katherine Ryan, Phil Wang, Aisling Bea and David Mitchell.
In Episode 5 (August 28), another new compilation of the best bits from recent series of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Jimmy Carr, Sean Lock and Jon Richardson, and Countdown regulars Susie Dent and Rachel Riley, are joined by a host of top comedians, including Alan Carr, Richard Ayoade, Roisin Conaty, Aisling Bea, Nick Mohammed, Joe Wilkinson, Sara Pascoe, Kevin Bridges and Joe Lycett.

8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is hosted by Jimmy Carr with regular team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson.
They take over Channel 4’s the classic letters and numbers quiz which usually airs in the early afternoon, hosted by Nick Hewer.
They’re joined by Countdown’s resident lexicographer Susie Dent who presides over Dictionary Corner with a special guest each week. Plus there is Queen of the Numbers, mathematician Rachel Riley.
8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown originally started as a one-off mash up in 2012 for a special night of programmes on Channel 4. After proving a hit with viewers, there have been more than 15 series and over 100 episodes of 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
Guests in the series over the years have included David Mitchell, Jack Whitehall, Johnny Vegas, Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer, Reginald D. Hunter, Aisling Bea, David Baddiel and Alex Horne & the Horne Section.
