These two X Factor contestants are competing in Eurovision 2019

Two former X Factor contestants are competing to represent the UK at Eurovision 2019.

The BBC this week confirmed the names of the six acts and songs on the shortlist to become the UK Eurovision entry 2019.

They will take to the Eurovision: You Decide stage on next month to compete for the honour of representing the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

One of the six is Holly Tandy, who is no stranger to the stage having first wowed the British public when she appeared on the 2017 series of The X Factor.

Holly finished seventh in the competition after making it through to the live shows.

Now she’s hoping to become the UK entry for Eurovision 2019 with song Bigger Than Us, written by Laurell Barker, Anna-Klara Folin, John Lundvik and Jonas Thander.

Holly said about her song: “My version of Bigger Than Us is a country pop song which is really current and cool, and similar to a Taylor Swift / Miley Cyrus vibe.”

Holly isn’t the only former reality TV contestant competing to represent the UK this year.

Michael Rice, who auditioned for The X Factor in 2014, is another of the six artists hoping to be the UK’s 2019 Eurovision entry.

Michael won BBC One’s new singing show All Together Now last year and will be singing his own version of song Bigger Than Us.

He said of his track: “My version of Bigger Than Us is such an epic, big song with a big key change and harmonies, and I think the lyrics resonate with everyone”

Also making up the Eurovision 2019 UK contenders is Jordan Clarke, who was previously a part of group Luminites who made the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2013.

His potential Eurovision song is called Freaks and is written by Jon Maguire, Rick Parkhouse, Corey Sanders and George Tizzard.

Jordan said: “To represent my country at Eurovision would mean so much, it’s like representing England at the World Cup if you’re a footballer, this is my World Cup – I’m so excited!”

Eurovision: You Decide will air on BBC Two in February.

Viewers will get the chance to vote for their favourite before the UK’s 2019 Eurovision entry is crowned.
