After the first weekend of X Factor live shows, two contestants were sent packing and one stole the show.
Following Saturday's performances and Sunday's results, Shan is the new 7/4 favourite to win after her emotional rendition of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ had the judges and audience on their feet. Her odds were quickly slashed from 4/1 by bookmakers BoyleSports as punters began to latch onto the 25-year-old Croydon native.
Dalton Harris also took on an iconic song for his first performance, closing the show with ‘Life on Mars’ by David Bowe. It's seen him take over second place in the betting after he shortened into 6/1 from 7/1.
Previous 11/4 favourites Misunderstood have suffered a drift and find themselves tied for third in the betting alongside Irish hopeful Brendan Murray. The duo performed yet another original track for the opening weekend which was themed ‘This Is Me’ however they faded into the background on punters minds forcing their odds to be eased to 7/1.
Brendan Murray received mixed reviews for his take on Ariana Grande’s ‘Break Free’, Louis, Robbie and Ayda all praised the former Hometown member, but Simon Cowell branded it boring. As a result the Galway native’s odds have been pushed out to 7/1 from his 10/3 second favourite status.
Aoife Heffron, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented: “Shan was the standout performance of the opening weekend of X Factor live shows and she has regained her status as the one to beat as punters backed her right in from 4/1 to 7/4.”
She added “Misunderstood were the clear favourites before the weekend’s performances, but something about their track Chewing Gum didn’t stick with punters and they appear to have turned their backs on the duo already, resulting in them drifting out to 7/1.”
