X Factor 2018: Sharon Osborne will NOT be on live shows after all

Sharon Osbourne (The X Factor 2018)

Sharon Osborne WON'T be on The X Factor 2018 live shows this year.

Sharon stepped down from the show's audition stages back in the summer, but was due to appear as a 'fifth judge' during the live shows.

The X Factor said at the time that Sharon had "chosen to take on an exciting new role on the show", which would see her appear on live episodes alone.

Sharon said in June: “I can’t wait to get back to the judges’ desk. I love the new format.”

But now it's been confirmed that Sharon will no longer be a part of the series.

An X Factor spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: “The X Factor can confirm Sharon Osbourne has decided not to return to this year’s show.

"Sharon will always be a big part of The X Factor family and we wish her all the best for the future.”

A source put the decision down to an interview Sharon gave recently slating the show.

The insider alleged: “Sharon is going to try and spin this as her choice to leave, but after that disgusting interview there was no way Simon Cowell or the executives would have her back on the panel."

The music manager this evening posted a statement to social media.

Sharon wrote on Facebook and Twitter: "This is my official statement regarding X Factor. If it reads differently in the papers then it’s been altered:

"After watching the new season of X Factor unfold, I’ve seen the new judges finding their rhythm and are doing brilliantly. Simon was so gracious to find me a spot on the live shows but at this point I really don’t think I’m needed and I would honestly feel odd coming in at this point. So I have decided to pass on the series this year.

"I wish the show continued success and as much as I love to get my face on TV you will have to do without me this season.

"Loves ya, Mrs. O.”

Sharon had been on last year's series alongside Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger, who both quit the show completely this series.

They were replaced by a brand new line up of Robbie Williams, Ayda Williams and Louis Tomlinson. There's no word yet if another judge will join the live shows in place of Sharon.

For now, The X Factor 2018 continues Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV with the Six Chair Challenge, hosted by Dermot O'Leary.

Judges houses' begin next week followed by the live shows, which will run until December.
