J Sol gave a heartbreaking audition on The X Factor at the weekend, singing an original song.

It left judges Louis, Ayda Williams, Robbie Williams and Simon Cowell all very emotional.

J Sol told the judges on stage: “The song is a song I wrote called Bullet In My Heart and it was the only song I wrote throughout in 2015. I suddenly lost my mum in 2015.

“I’ve always been terrified of doing this show, but I was going through texts and my mum was always telling me ‘You need to do X Factor’ and I always said no but reading the text I thought, I want to finally tick off something she’s wanted me to do.

“I just want to inspire other people.”

Louis, who lost his mum in 2016, commented: “That is the power of music that you can write a song that moved us all. You’re a legend for what you just done.”

The One Direction star joined J Sol on stage before it was revealed Louis would be mentoring him and the rest of the boys category.

“It was like a therapy session,” J Sol said of the audition this week.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper of chatting to Louis: “One of the things Louis said to me was there’s a song that he’s been trying to write.

“I was like, ‘Let’s get in the studio’. I’m ready when Louis is.”

Meanwhile, J Sol has taken to Twitter to post a touching tribute to his late mum following the audition.

He wrote: “To the best mum in the world, hope you’re having fun in heaven. So, listen, i finally took your advice and done this TV Show called X Factor that you’ve bang’d on about for YEARSS!!!!

“It’s been 3 years since you left but it feels like a lifetime since i’ve been without you. Sometimes i get really sad because i forget the sound of your voice. But, I guess it really is true what they say, MAMA KNOWS BEST!

“Because never in a million years would i have thought I’d be able to feel this close to you again, but through this show, you and God have made it possible.”
