Strictly Come Dancing's launch show will clash with The X Factor, with the start date and time now confirmed.

Strictly will begin tonight, Saturday, September 8 at 7:35PM on BBC One, running to 9PM.

In the pre-recorded launch show, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will present an exclusive premiere and star-studded red carpet launch for the 16th series of Strictly Come Dancing and welcome 15 brand new celebrity contestants to the dancefloor.

Celebs on this year's Strictly are Pussycat Doll singer Ashley Roberts, Steps' star Faye Tozer, BBC Newsreader Kate Silverton and author, inspirational speaker, nd campaigner Katie Piper.

They're joined by Paralympian Lauren Steadman, documentary maker Stacey Dooley, TV presenter Susannah Constantine, radio DJ Vick Hope and actor Charles Venn.

Rounding off the line up are actor Danny John-Jules, cricketer Graeme Swann, vlogger Joe Sugg, Blue singer Lee Ryan, TV doctor Dr Ranj Singh and comedian Seann Walsh.

This is where the journey will begin for the class of 2018 where they'll discover which professional dancer they are to be paired up with for the competition.

They'll then hit the dancefloor for their very first performance as a group.

Plus, the show opens with a spectacular red carpet event as the Strictly family dance to a medley of Nile Rodgers’ greatest hits performed by Chic and the man himself. Later in the show Craig David and Stefflon Don will join Nile and Chic to perform their new single.

The live shows will then begin later, launching on Saturday, September 22.

Meanwhile, The X Factor got a head start on Strictly after launching last Saturday and Sunday on ITV.

The singing talent show continues tonight at the later time of 8:30PM.

That means there will be a 30 minute overlap between the two shows this evening on Saturday, September 8.

Acts singing tonight include nervous Natasha Boon, a 26-year-old singing Florist from Camden, London who says she's never performed in front of an arena audience before.

Closing the show is 17-year-old Maria Laroco from the Philippines. "Since I was a little girl I wanted to be an international superstar, I want to be big" she tells the judges.
