The trio were finalists on The X Factor in 2016, finishing third behind runner up Saara Aalto and winner Matt Terry.

In January last year, the group announced a deal with Sony Music.

“What an honour it is to be working with the best label in the business. This is a dream come true,” they said at the time. “To say that we are part of a roster that includes artists such as One Direction and Little Mix is just incredible.”

The added: “We want to thank our supporters and can’t wait to give them new music, our music.”

“Sony and 5AM have decided to part ways,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “With the arrival of [2017 X Factor winners] Rak-Su, the label felt there wasn’t enough resources to look after them both.

“The band are looking for another label but are deciding whether it is worth staying together or going solo.”

A spokeswoman for Syco confirmed to the tabloid: “5 After Midnight and Syco have parted ways. We wish the boys all the success in their future endeavours.”

5 After Midnight follow runner up Saara Aalto in departing Sony.

Saara had signed a mega record deal with the music giant, but switched to Warner music last October.

Saara said at the time: “I was honoured I was signed to Sony. But later I felt like they weren’t the right team.

“When I met the people at Warner they were very excited about my style and making me into this big theatrical artist.”

X Factor 2016 winner Matt Terry remains signed to RCA Records, releasing his debut album Trouble last year.
