X Factor’s new live shows get love and hate from viewers

The first of X Factor’s revamped live shows concluded tonight and all the changes seemed to split viewers.

The show’s brand new set and better song selection – including original tracks – won praise.

But the ditching of the bottom two sing off and new ‘prize fight’ format didn’t win over many.

This year The X Factor live rounds have seen a complete overhaul, with contestants singing and eliminations on both nights.

Host Dermot O’Leary made it VERY clear that show bosses were putting the public in charge with a total of three separate votes over the past 48 hours.

On Saturday the Girls and Boys performed before one was eliminated and then on Sunday it was the turn of the Overs and Groups.

There was no second chances as the acts with the fewest viewer votes were brutally booted out.

In a new format, the acts who topped the polls on Saturday and Sunday night performed again in a ‘prize fight’.

A third viewer vote decided an overall winner of the weekend, who won a special prize which this week was a trip to New York to see P!nk perform.

Overall many viewers just weren’t sure what to make of it all.

“Two lots of votes. Half people singing. No sing off. Prize fight being dragged out for 1/4 of the show. All Feels odd #XFactor,” wrote @LadyNadiaEssex.

A lot of people were confused that the new ‘prize fight’ saw the exact same songs as in the main performances.

“Erm does anyone get the point of the contestants doing this sing off and singing the SAME SONGS ?#XFACTOR #XFactor” tweeted @rachelalicem

But at least the original songs did win a lot of praise from those watching.

“Rak-Su won tonight’s show and Grace won last night’s show. Proof that singing original songs is what we want. A welcome addition to #XFactor,” posted @elliot_gonzalez.
