Liam Payne and Stormzy will be the first guest stars on The X Factor 2017 live shows.

One Direction star Liam will perform this Saturday night.

He tweeted: "Can't wait to return to #XFactor and perform #BedroomFloor for the first time ever LIVE on TV 🙌🏻🎤"

Stormzy meanwhile will take to the stage Sunday evening's show.

This year will see a new format to the The X Factor live hows with acts singing and facing elimination on both Saturday and Sunday nights.

A total of 16 contestants will be in the live shows, and it's expected 8 will be performing each night this weekend.

The first 12 finalists were revealed at the weekend.

Last Saturday and Sunday saw judges' houses with the four mentors each picking a trio of acts in their respective categories.

Nicole Scherzinger was first up with the Overs, choosing Kevin Davy White, Matt Linnen and Tracy Leanne Jefford to go through to the live stages.

Next was Sharon Osbourne with the Girls. Grace Davies, Rai-Elle Williams and Holly Tandy all made the live shows.

Sunday it was the turn of the Groups and Simon Cowell selected Sean and Conor Price, The CutKelvins and Rak-Su for the final stages.

Finally, Louis Walsh picked his boys. Lloyd Macey, Spencer Sutherland and Sam Black made it through to the live shows.

All 12 will now go forward to next weekend where The X Factor will go live for the first time this year.

But they won't be alone with FOUR wild card acts joining them, as viewers vote through one additional act in each category, with the results to be revealed later.

The X Factor goes LIVE on Saturday on ITV with the very first weekend of live shows.

The X Factor will be live on Saturday at 8:20PM with the performances and return Sunday at 7PM with the first weekend of live singing.
