Leon Mallett is one of six boys hoping for a spot in The X Factor 2017 live shows.
The 22-year-old signer from Norwich had originally auditioned with his brother as part of duo ITG.
But they were split up at bootcamp and went solo, with only Leon getting a seat through to judges' houses this weekend.
"We auditioned together and at bootcamp they asked us to separate, they said we should be soloists," Leon explained. "So when I got a seat and he didn’t, it was really difficult.
"He’s my younger brother and I always want to look after him, so that was tough. He’s very supportive though."
Leon, who describes his musical style as "pop with an urban twist" says mentor Louis is "experienced, invested and honest."
It'll be the Irish music mogul, along with his guest judge Mika, who decides whether or not Leon will make the live shows.
"It would be insane [to get through]," says Leon from judges' houses. "I’ve been doing music for years, spent a lot of time and invested money into it. So it would feel like it’s all clicking into place."
Leon hopes that making the live finals could make for a successful career, explaining: "I’d love to be touring the world, going to places I’ve never been before and people knowing who I am because of my music."
