XFactor 2013: Ofcom complaints over treatment of 'wacky' hopefuls

TV watchdog Ofcom has been sent its first complaints about The X Factor 2013.

Viewers of the ITV series have hit out at the show and its judges over some of the more unique auditions featured on the weekend's show.

Saturday's second audition episode saw DJ Thomas Feely perform Stevie Wonder's Isn't She Lovely to the panel, having mixed the track himself on his laptop.

Meanwhile, cat lover Colin Stacey was seen murdering Adele’s Someone Like You as he sung to a framed photo of his pet cat Patch.

Both of the auditions were met with tears of laughter from Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

But some fans of the show have complained to Ofcom, saying that the panel's giggles were “ridiculing" the performers.

A spokesperson for The X Factor said: “The welfare of contestants is our key priority.”

There's more funny auditions set to come however, with Xtra Factor hosts Caroline Flack and Matt Richardson previously teasing some of the more wacky wannabes.

Speaking to us on the red carpet of this year's press launch, Caroline said: "There's a guy who has a tambourine and thinks it is alive, you can take Ant and Seb and we'll have tambourine man.

And her new co-host Matt revealed: "There's also a guy who took all his bags in because he was scared of it being stolen. He was just there singing with his suitcase."
