X Factor 2018: Simon Cowell changes the rules again for the final
Simon Cowell has decided to change the rules again for The X Factor 2018 final.
The X Factor 2018 final airs 7:30PM this Saturday and Sunday on ITV, live from Wembley Arena.
Those in the final are Anthony Russell and Dalton Andre Harris in the Boys category and Scarlett Lee in the Girls.
Typically in The X Factor final, one act is eliminated in the Saturday show to leave two finalists fighting it out on Sunday night.
But Simon Cowell has reportedly changed this year’s format, ensuring that all three finalists make it through to Sunday’s grand final.
It means that all three will also get the opportunity to perform their potential winner’s songs, which this year will be duets.
The three finalists have all recorded songs with some familiar names to be released to download and stream if they win the show.
Dalton has recorded a song with 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur, Scarlett Lee’s potential winner’s track is with 2006 X Factor champ Leona Lewis and Anthony Russell has been in the studio with Kaiser Chiefs’ frontman Ricky Wilson.
“Simon thinks this is one of the strongest finals ever and has decided they’ve all earned the opportunity to shine,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “Plus, all three being able to perform their winner’s single will improve the odds of the public choosing a song that will trouble the charts.
“Simon can’t wait to see them all battle it out until the very end.”
Simon previously changed the rules when his acts Bella Penfold and Shan Ako were eliminated ahead of the quarter finals.
The music mogul decided to add them to the tour line up which was originally reserved for the top six acts.
The X Factor 2018 final airs 7:30PM this Saturday and Sunday on ITV.
A number of guest acts have been confirmed for the final including former X Factor winner James Arthur together with Anne Marie, Ellie Goulding and George Ezra.
Nile Rogers will also be singing with Chic plus there will be an appearance from Take That, who are rumoured to be reuniting with their former bandmate and current X Factor judge Robbie Williams.
