X Factor 2018: David Walliams CONFIRMED as Robbie Williams’ Judges Houses guestBritain's Got Talent judge will help choose the final Groups
The X Factor 2018 has confirmed the first of the guest mentors for this year’s Judges’ Houses, with David Walliams joining Robbie Williams to pick the Groups.
David is no stranger to Simon Cowell’s talent contests, as a fan-favourite judge on Britain’s Got Talent.
Now he’s making his first appearance on its sister format after Robbie invited him to tag along at Judges’ Houses.
The former Little Britain funnyman will help the ‘Candy’ singer decide which Groups should advance to the live shows.
Unfortunately for Simon, that means David is no longer backing him for victory.
“I’ve always loved watching The X Factor, I’ve never missed a series,” he said. “I’ve actually always wanted to do Judges Houses.
“I like that I’ve now done it with Rob because I want him to win, I don’t want Simon to win!”
David was full of praise for the former Take That member, revealing they’ve known each other for “a long time”.
“Robbie’s great because he’s very empathetic and he’s really been there,” he commented. “He’s also had his ups and downs as a person and as a performer in terms of his popularity.
“He speaks from experience on all fronts. I think the contestants trust him because they know he’s been there and done it all.
“He’s been in a band where to some extent you’re told how it’s going to be, to then become a solo artist and be able to express himself whatever way he wants.
“It’s interesting, not many people have had both those experiences.”
Rumours initially suggested David would be Simon’s assistant, but fortunately he’s got plenty other big names to help.
X Factor favourite Sinitta, former winner Leona Lewis and American Idol stars Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul are just some of the people the Syco boss has reportedly called in f0r advice.
Meanwhile, Louis Tomlinson is tipped to be joined by one of his One Direction bandmates, with Liam Payne considered favourite.
Bosses have yet to confirm the other judges’ special guests.
However, we do now know the exotic locations the contestants visited thanks to presenter Dermot O’Leary.
He revealed on Sunday Brunch yesterday that filming took place in America and Ibiza – with most of the judges using their real homes.
“It’s interesting because Simon’s house and Robbie and Ayda’s house were their actual houses,” he laughed.
“That never normally happens. Normally we go, it’s their ‘sort-of’ house… that they’re in for a week!”
The first of three Judges’ Houses episodes airs this Sunday at 8.00pm on ITV.
Before then, The X Factor continues on Saturday at 8.35pm with the conclusion of the Six Chair Challenge, when Louis and Robbie will reveal their top six acts.
