A backing singer who performed alongside the late Amy Whinehouse for years until her death last month has auditioned for The X Factor. According to The People, 24-year-old Heshima Thompson has made it through to the bootcamp stage of the show, which starts today.
The youngster had auditioned back on The X Factor in 2009, sailing through to bootcamp with Louis Walsh saying: "I think you have a lot more potential then even you think you have!"
However it wasn't to be, with the singer failing to make it to judges' houses.
Back for another go this year however, Heshima impressed the new look line up at London's O2 Arena last month with Usher's smash hit 'OMG', with will.i.am.
A source said: "He was a friend of Amy and was devastated by her death. Now X Factor has given him something to strive for."
The audition was one of some 300 seen by the judges during their 3 day stay a the capital in July, with the best - and worst - try outs set to air when The X Factor 2011 starts on Saturday.
