X Factor auditions 2014: One Direction on why you should try out

X Factor stars One Direction have become the latest act to launch a plea for this year's auditions.

The five boys' journey to super stardom started when they auditioned with The X Factor back in 2010.

Four years later they've sold millions of records, filled arenas around the world and had the time of their lives. Your adventure could start soon by attending The X Factor auditions.

The boys said: "The last four years haven't been absolutely incredible but it would've ave happened if we didn't turn up and give an X Factor audition our go."

Liam encouraged budding performers: "Just turn up and see what happens, best of luck!"

The X Factor 2014 auditions kicked off in the UK earlier today in Plymouth as hundreds queued before the 9AM cut off to sing for show bosses.

This year, for the first time in five series, you can apply if you're aged 14 or over, although those under 16 need to bring a parent or legal guardian.

If you couldn't make it to the southcoast today you needn't worry too much, as once again the auditions will be touring across the UK over the next month and into May.

After today in Plymouth, auditions will be held in London, Edinburgh, Gateshead, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham.
