X Factor musical: Watch 'Simon Cowell' tap dancing!

Here's a scene we'd never thought we'd see: Simon Cowell getting up on stage himself to TAP DANCE.

Of course it's not the real Simon Cowell, rather the character played by Nigel Harman in the new X Factor musical.

I Can't Sing! The X Factor musical - written by comic Harry Hill with Simon's blessing - follows the tale of budding singer Chenice (Cynthia Erivo) as she auditions for the show.

Joining 'Simon' on the judging panel are 'Louis' (Ashley Knight) and 'Jordy' (Victoria Elliott) while a 'Liam O'Deary' (Simon Bailey) hosts the whole thing.

And the wacky production - which some early theatergoers have compared to taking LSD - also involves a TALKING DOG called Barlow, played Avenue Q's Simon Lipkin.

In this exclusive clip from rehearsals, filmed at the London Palladium earlier in the week, we see a huge ensemble number from the cast, one which has been causing problems in previews.

Fortunately the faults have been ironed out now, with the cast telling us that the show has changed every day since the first rehearsals ahead of its official opening night next week.

I Can't Sing! The X Factor Musical opens at the London Palladium on March 26. For more info and tickets see the I Can't Sing! website.
