X Factor judge Kelly Rowland could be "out of action" for weeks with her sickness, doctors have reportedly claimed. The US star, who missed out this weekend's live shows with a throat infection, is said however to be making "good progress."
Kelly phoned into the show tonight to cast her vote in the sing off, which saw two of her girls - Misha B and Sophie Habibis - in the bottom two.
Despite some criticism of Kelly's 'sickie voice', a source insisted: "She is genuinely really sick and it’s far worse than just a throat infection.
“She has been dropping around 1lb a day and has been put on a drip to filter antibiotics into her blood as well as being fed some vital nutrients through the drip.
“Kelly has been in absolute agony after her glands swelled up to the size of golf balls and she told friends it felt like ‘swallowing razor blades’.”
While the singer's spokesperson has insisted Kelly will be well enough to fly back to the UK this week, she may still be too ill to help her acts or appear on the show.
"[Doctors] have warned her she could be physically out of action for weeks," the source added to the Daily Star Sunday.
“To make matters worse, viruses like Kelly’s usually lie dormant for four to six weeks before the effects surface.
“If that’s the case, she could have passed it on to the other judges or contestants without them knowing, which would be catastrophic for the show.”
Although in some cases, we reckon it could well improve the vocals...
