Blimey, what a weekend it's set to be. News broke just over an hour ago now that Kelly Rowland would not be making the X Factor live shows this weekend, and unsurprisingly rumours have been flying around about a possible stand in for the US singer.
While we're not too sure why a stand in is needed - there wasn't one when Louis Walsh sat out the show for two weeks in 2009 - it's sure to be a way to grab some much needed publicity and ratings for the programme.
By far the most linked name to the show is Nicole Scherzinger, who has guest judged on the programme before and will be in the UK this weekend to perform her new single on Sunday's live results. With the former Pussycat Doll not going too well on the X Factor USA, maybe our viewers will take more kindly to the songstress?
The next and rather inevitable rumour is of course Cheryl Cole. There's been talk of her return to the programme for months, and ITV have not hidden the fact they tried to get the singer back on the show after Simon Cowell axed her from the US version, but we reckon Chezza has well and truly thrown in the X Factor towel.
Then of course there is Simon Cowell. We've been expecting the X Factor boss to return sooner or later and this opportunity surely cannot be passed by?
If anyone does step in however they won't be there for long. A spokesperson for Kelly insisted this evening: "She has not gone AWOL. She will be back. She’s been in contact with the girls. She’s been on intravenous drips. Her doctor will not permit her to fly. She tried to get on a flight today but her doctor wasn’t letting her."
An X Factor spokeswoman said: "The most important thing is for Kelly to get better."
We'll keep you all posted...
