X Factor hopeful Kitty Brucknell has said she regrets becoming a Britney Spears impersonator, saying she wished she'd "never done it". The 26-year-old, who has also impersonated Lady GaGa and Christina Aguilera, added she wanted to move on from her past.
Despite getting paid hundreds of thousands of pounds for sets of the star, including a recent offer of £300,000 from a Dubai businessman, Kitty revealed: "You know what — sometimes I wish I'd never done that stuff.
"Now all everyone thinks of me is 'Oh, there's that Britney impersonator'. I'm a singer, I want to sing but I've never been able to get away from that.
"Coming on the show is my way of moving on — but even now I feel like I'm stuck."
Speaking to The Sun, Kitty added: "For a time Britney Spears was huge and I was the best impersonator around.
"If someone wants to pay me x amount to sing songs I love for a night then why would I turn it down? But I've done it so long now it's time to move on. I wish people could see another side of me — I really do."
Meanwhile speaking about judge and her mentor Louis Walsh, Kitty explained: "Louis is in Dublin most of the week but he knows we don't need our hands held. He knows that I have potential and is receptive to my ideas.
"I don't try and overdo things as I don't want to just be all show — I like to think I can actually sing."
