X Factor bosses blame miming during group song on "technical nightmare"

X Factor 2011 set

It was hard to ignore the ridiculously poor lip syncing by the final 12 X Factor contestants on last night's show, as they pretended to belt out Hello by Martin Solveig & Dragonette. Following criticism, show bosses blamed the decision on a "technical nightmare".

Speaking out after similar complaints last year, a spokesperson said it was hard to mix the sound from each of the 12 microphones used by the contestants for the number.

They added: "The group number is not part of the competition. The acts all sing live on the Saturday night.”

But viewers weren't too happy. One moaned: "That had to be the worst miming session I ever saw. Says a lot when people are watching and voting to see people sing.”

Another told us: "WHY WHY WHY do they mime when they can sing?? AWFUL!!!! :-/"

However some didn't mind the move, with DynamiteD1VA telling us on Twitter: "I don’t really mind it being mimed since it lets you see who has a good recording voice."
