Janet Devlin X Factor

After a week of stories about bullying and arguing between The X Factor contestants, it's lovely to hear some reports o the group finally coming together and supporting one another. Follwoing the death of her granddad this week, Janet has had only her fellow finalists for support, and they've been more than happy to lend a shoulder to cry on.

31-year-old Sami Brookes in particular has been helping the teenager cope after finding out the news on Thursday.

“All of the contestants have rallied round her — Sami has become a mother figure to Janet recently, and even gave up her bedroom last night so Janet could have a room to herself," a souce told The Belfast Telegraph.

“Janet will be putting her all into her performance in memory of her grandad. Her brothers and closest friends are coming to the studio to support her — it will be an emotional weekend.”

Show bosses had told Janet she was free to fly back to Ireland for tomorrow's funeral, but after talking with relatives, the 16-year-old decided to continue on with her performance this weekend.

“Naturally Janet is very upset,” the source added.

“Janet discussed the situation with her parents and it was decided that she should remain in the competition this weekend and not attend the funeral.

“Her grandfather was so proud of her and loved to listen to her sing. Janet and her family knew that he would want her to perform this weekend.”
