X Factor 2011: 'I would've stayed if public voted' says Amelia Lily
16-year-old Amelia Lily has described her experience of being booted out from the show was like "having your heart ripped out". The schoolgirl, who was one of four contestants axed on Sunday night, boasted however that her fan base was "ridiculously big" and would’ve saved her in a public vote.
We saw on Sunday night how Kelly Rowland eliminated the sobbing youngster as the former Destiny's Child singer saved Sophie Habibis, Misha Bryan and Janet Devlin over her.
Speaking to The Sun, Amelia said: "It is literally the hardest thing you could ever go through in your life. It's like having your heart ripped out."
She added: "My fan base is ridiculously big now. If it was a public vote I would have got through."
The paper claims that even the judges felt the twist was wrong, with Tulisa telling producers it was "too harsh".
Meanwhile Amelia revealed that Kelly was still supporting her despite the axe: "She said, 'I'm still your mentor, whether or not you're in the competition'."
