X Factor reject Amelia Lily has claimed her 'huge fan base' would've kept her in the show if it were not for this weekend's shock twist. Speaking after her exit on Sunday night, Amelia told the BBC, she would've got it through.

The 16-year-old said: “The twist was so unfair. If it was down to the public, I would have got through. "

And she boasted: "My fan base is huge.”

Speaking to DigitalSpy, the youngster hit out at the change to the format, which saw four hopefuls kicked out after the first live show. "We'd just got to know each other and got a taste for The X Factor and they landed this massive bombshell on us," she explained.

"It was hurtful. Really hurtful. But you know what? We had to do it. We had to see if we could handle the stress and the pressure and fight harder. I know that I fought as much as I could. Everything happens for a reason, doesn't it?""

Performing Michael Jackson's Billie Jean on the show, Amelia added that none of the other girls would've been able to pull off her performance, which opened the show.

She said: "Se It was a massive song choice and I'm really proud of myself that I took a massive risk. I don't think any of the other contestants could have pulled off the song like I did, if I'm being perfectly honest."
