Eliminated X Factor act James Michael has hit out at the show's twist which last night saw four acts eliminated after just a single live performance. James, Amelia Lily, 2 Shoes and Jonjo Kerr were all booted out in the results show after performing on Saturday night's first live episode.
There was no public vote, with the judges each deciding to kick out one act in their category.
James complained: “Throwing one person out of each category, I don't think that's good.
"I think I would have done Gary proud. Definitely improved. I wanted to bring my own style in and my own voice in properly. That's all I wanted to do."
Gary Barlow admitted that James gave a brilliant performance last night, but was simply the weakest of the four boys.
The Take That star told Caroline Flack and Olly Murs on Xtra Factor: "He really shone last night and nobody gave a bad performance last night. Like I say, it's the levels of where they were last night. James was the lowest level of all four of my acts."
Despite the knock back, James however insisted he'd continue with his dream.
"Music just makes me happy. The X Factor is the best thing that's ever happened to me in my life," he said. "Maybe now I can get in a little band or something."
