X Factor 2011: 'I was too normal for Louis Walsh' says Carolynne Poole

Rejected X Factor contestant Carolynne Poole has suggested Louis Walsh axed her for being too normal. The talented songstress was given the boot on last night's show in favour of Johnny Robinson, Goldie and Kitty Brucknell. However even when Goldie pulled out, Louis still refused to bring back Carolynne for a second chance.

It was instead Sami Brookes who took up the extra place and will sing in the live shows starting from Saturday.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Carolynne confessed she took a lot of courage to audition for The X Factor, having failed in BBC One show Fame Academy years earlier.

She said: “I was really aware of putting myself up there to get shot down again. Fame Academy wasn’t my time. At the time the UK didn’t get country. They wanted me to sing raunchy R&B, but my style is more like Faith Hill.”

Following her audition in Manchester, Carolynne received a full standing ovation from the judges, with Gary Barlow tipping her for the final.

Instead, it was screeching wannabe Johnny Robinson who made the cut.

Carolynne continued: “There is more competition from the overs. You have to be really quirky. I’m too normal and quite reserved.”
