X Factor 2011 hopeful Goldie Cheung quits the show tonight, apparently because she couldn't bear to leave her two young sons to move to London for the live shows. Tonight the X Factor finalists will be revealed, and from tomorrow they'll move into a luxury pad together up until Christmas.
A neighbour pal of Goldie's revealed today: “There’s been a lot of speculation about it ever since it came out. But the truth is she just couldn’t bear to be away from her boys.
“It’s very rural and quiet here. Goldie is very down to earth, she does the school run, goes to the local shops and is a real bubbly character."
They added: “Yes, she’s got this extrovert side to her but I’ve been told that she had reservations about moving down to London and living in the house.
“She would’ve struggled with the cameras constantly being on her while at the same time she would’ve missed her kids terribly.
“In the end, after agonising over the decision, she decided to quit. It was a massive opportunity for her to turn down and I know she’s very grateful for the opportunity she’s had."
Reports had claimed that Goldie felt like she was being made into a joke act on the show, but the friend insisted that was not the case. They told the Daily Star Sunday: “She had a great time and decided to walk away before it had any sort of impact on her children. The thought of being away from them and David was her main reason for quitting. We were all supportive of her round the village.
“It’s not often you get a neighbour on The X Factor but it must have been just too much of a challenge for her.”
Meanwhile an insider revealed that Goldie's bizarre dance moves and performances have seen interest from TV producers.
“She’s feeling very upbeat about the future and it seems those raunchy routines impressed quite a few people in the entertainment industry," one source said. “She’s got a lot going on at the moment and is still dealing with her decision to leave the show"
The future looks - wait for it - golden for her...
