If X Factor 2011 hopeful Joe Cox's comments are anything to go by, there'll be no let up in harsh Gary Barlow as the competition moves to the judges' houses stage this weekend. Speaking to Digitalspy, Joe branded the Take That star "brutal", but was ultimately full of praise for the song writer.
Joe is one of eight boys fighting it out for a place in next week's live shows, with just four of them able to make the cut.
Recalling finding out Gary was to be his mentor Joe said: "The moment Gary walked into that room and we found out he was our mentor was incredible. I'll remember that for the rest of my life.
"The career and life he's had has been inspiring. It's not always been good, he's had his knock-backs and he's got all that experience. The Boys' category has been privileged to have him around and to have him with everything musically that he brings."
And it sounds as though Gary has been very hands on with his acts throughout the judges' house stage - which airs tomorrow night.
Joe continued: "You can go up to Gary and he'll listen straight away. There is no sort of celebrity or judge barrier. Nothing like that. He's a down-to-earth bloke and he'll talk to you, without sugar coating.
"He is brutal, but he will give you what you need."
Watch Joe perform for Gary and pal Robbie Williams tomorrow night, and tune into The X Factor this Sunday to see if he makes it through to the live shows.
