Rock band Biffy Clyro have praised last year's X Factor winner Matt Cardle, thanking the singer for attracting more fans to their group when he covered their track Many Of Horror in December. Speaking to the Daily Star however the band were less enthusiastic about The X Factor as a show.
Singer Simon Neil told the tabloid: “We’ve definitely had a lot more people checking us out since he covered our song.
“But those people who turn up at shows for the first time get the fright of their lives when they realise we’re a full-on rock band.
"It’s a real compliment when somebody covers you. Even on YouTube when you see people singing our songs in their bedrooms, I love all that. It’s been an honour.”
The group recently met Matt, who is currently recording his debut album and revealed: “He’s a nice fellow, he’s done absolutely nothing wrong."
“He likes good music, he likes real bands and he liked our song. So I’ve nothing but respect for him.”
However they added: "It’s not his fault he was involved in a hokey music show."
