In news that is likely to send the anger levels of One Direction fans through the roof, Rebecca Ferguson today confirmed she was in a relationship with the group's Zayn Malik. In an exclusive interview with this weekend's News Of The World, Rebecca confirmed the pair were in a "loving, caring relationship".
The mum-of-two told the newspaper: "We're really in love and it's hard to see how negative things have become.
"I want people to know that I'm happy, he's happy and we're in a loving, caring relationship. It's sad that people are so against it."
A source at the time said: “There’s a lot riding on them. Simon won’t want a silly little tour romance to hurt them professionally.”
Blasting suggestions she was only hanging around Zayn for fame, Rebecca told the paper today: "I've got a career, I've got my own record deal and money, and I've got my own life. I'm not gaining anything from this. It's genuine love."
In the intimate interview - out in today's paper or online at the official News of the World website - Rebecca says that at first she felt Zayn was too young for her. The 24-year-old said: "He was after me for months. I was like: 'No, you're too young.'
"But he really wooed me and it was a long, long struggle before anything happened."
18-year-old Zayn and is fellow One Direction members - Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles Liam Payne and Niall Horan - are set to release her debut single in the summer, while Rebecca Ferguson has signed a deal with Epic.
