Dermot O'Leary to host The Nightly Show but Mel and Sue turn it down

Dermot O'Leary has been revealed as a new host of The Nightly Show on ITV.

However former Bake Off duo Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have reportedly turned it down due to schedule conflicts.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “It looked as though it was all but finalised, but they never quite signed on the dotted line.

“Unfortunately the talks collapsed when they decided they couldn’t possibly make their diaries fit with ITV and have had to turn down the offer.”

A spokesperson for the show: "Mel and Sue were never signed to present The Nightly Show.

“The production team undertook discussions with them about the possibility of presenting a week but due to their hectic schedule this wasn’t possible.”

Alongside Dermot, Gordon Ramsay and Bradley Walsh are also expected to each front a week of the series.

Comic John Bishop is currently in charge of the show this week with last night's episode rating 1.4 million viewers.

The number is 100,000 up on last Tuesday's episode, where David Walliams was at the helm for the launch week.

The Nightly Show airs week nights at 10PM.
