Q & A: Ant and Dec chat about Britain's Got Talent 2011!

Ant and Dec

With Britain's Got Talent 2011 just days from hitting out screens this Saturday, Ant & Dec have given their views on this year's series in a short Q&A. Teasing some of the best and worst of this year's acts, the cheeky pair reveal all about what to expect from the programme...

Britian's Got Talent 2011 sees two new judges in the form of Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff, so which of the duo did Ant and Dec find the most surprising? "David Hasselhoff," says Ant, "He’s been a great judge from day one and has all that experience from America’s Got Talent, which he’s been able to bring over to the UK."

Dec added: "We weren’t sure what to expect, but he was constructive and gave really good criticism to the younger acts. He gave out the best advice. "

The telly hosts, who have fronted the show since the first series said that this year's series will see more variety than ever before. "Variety is great for Britain’s For Talent as that’s what the show is all about," says Dec. "We’ve had lots more pole dancers, dog acts, comics and magicians this year. There’s been lots of very talented singing children this year, so that will be quite a competitive area. The illusionists have been great too, some of which we really hope make the semi-finals."

And what about those...less talented acts? "That’s difficult to say, as even the ones that are bad you have a laugh with and we want them to carry on with their act," explains Ant.

Dec explained: "We’re there to give everyone a chance and to encourage them, although some needed more rehearsal than others. We love all the contestants, the good, the bad and the ugly!"

While Simon Cowell won't be on the audition shows this year, the music mogul will be returning to the live shows in June - and Ant & Dec can't wait to have him back! "It’s going to be really interesting to see what he thinks of the talent we’ve found without him!" the pair said. "I think he’ll be surprised at some of the acts that have been put through! Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a guy pops up carving faces out of melons!

"There’s some dog acts in there that should keep Simon happy as well, but I actually can’t wait to see who Simon praises and who he tells off on the judging panel!"

And finally, what type of acts do the presenting duo hope to see crowned champions this year? "I’d love a comedian to win this year, that would be fantastic," Ant said. Meanwhile Dec added: "Or a magician. We’d like to see a really fun variety act win that can go to Vegas and perform a sell out residency there."

Britain's Got Talent 2011 returns on ITV1 and ITV1 HD on Saturday April 16 at 8:20PM.
