Take Me Out's Wen Jing Mo admits she was once a hooker

Take Me Out: The girlsTake Me Out contestant Wen Jing Mo has caused more embarrassment for ITV1 by confessing that she was once a £200-an-hour hooker.

On Tuesday the broadcaster came under fire when it was revealed that Aaron Withers - who bagged a date with Wen in the show's series debut on Saturday - was an escort who has a conviction for assault against a woman.

Now it appears she may have more in common with him than first thought, after the 28-year-old revealed to The Mirror that she began selling sexual favours at 18 to raise money to pay her bills.

Wen - who has previously hid her secret from family and friends - told the paper: "Of course I regret doing it – but at the time it was a lifeline for me.

"I think a lot of other people in my position would do the same if it meant they could eat properly. Looking back at that period of my life is incredibly difficult for me – and some of the memories are seriously unpleasant."

Like Aaron, Wen hid her past from bosses to help her chances of getting on the show. She said: "I was genuinely looking for love. I’ve moved on with my life and the show seemed like a good fun way of perhaps meeting someone new. I didn’t want my past to get in the way of that, or for anyone to prejudge me."

However, she insists she wouldn't have dated Aaron had she known about his assault. "I wouldn’t judge him about his work as an escort, but his criminal conviction is totally different. He absolutely should take responsibility for that."

Meanwhile, ITV is set to cut footage of Wen and Aaron's time in Cyprus from the next episode on Saturday after their revelations came to light.

A source commented: "The fact that both the stars of its first show have worked as escorts is incredible to say the least. It’s hardly the sort of image that ITV would want to be associated with."
