Take Me Out contestant Aaron Withers was a male escort, has assault conviction

Take Me OutAaron Withers, a contestant on ITV1's Take Me Out, has been revealed as a £50-an-hour male escort who has a conviction for assault by The Mirror today.

Over 5million viewers tuned in on Saturday to the 32-year-old win a date with Wen, one of the thirty women looking for a partner on the dating show.

However, he hid the fact that he once offered his services as an escort through agency PlatinumSelect, charging £50 for an hour of his company, £500 for an overnight stay, or £1,500 for an entire weekend.

On his profile, which is still available on the company's website at the time of writing, Withers said he'd entertain at home or a hotel, and that he'd accept offers from mature ladies - but he stopped short of offering X-rated extras!

Aaron said: "It seemed like easy money to fund surf trips when I first came to London, just a bit of fun. I was really skint and needed to earn cash."

A Take Me Out spokesperson also commented: "Aaron signed up to the Platinum Select website in 2006, for a six-month period to try and make some money. He did not declare it to us when he applied to the series."

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that the 5ft 5in 'semi-professional surfer and asphalt layer' has previously been convicted of assault.

Withers hit Simon Edwards with a pool cue last summer for mocking his height. He also punched Edwards' girlfriend Amy Kerr when she tried to break the two up. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £50 compensation.

ITV said: "We are disappointed his record was not picked up in checks by talkbackTHAMES, the producers of Take Me Out." The production company has pledged to review its procedures.
