Martin Bashir forgets his words live on Celebrity X Factor

Martin Bashir forgot his words on The X Factor: Celebrity live shows tonight.

The broadcast journalist took to the stage to sing live for the second time this evening (November 2).

He performed Easy By Lionel Richie but struggled to remember the lyrics.

“I’m so sorry, I’ve forgotten the words,” Martin confessed midway through his performance.

He struggled to the end of the song before being joined by host Dermot O’Leary on stage.

After singing, Martin said: “I’m not trying to make excuses but my song had to be changed very late so I had to learn this song this morning so I’ve been anxious all evening so it just went out of my mind. I apologise.”

Simon Cowell replied: “I hope the audience gives you a second chance after that.”

Louis Walsh remarked: “It was like a posh wedding when the father of the bride gets up to sing a song and he’s drunk.”

Martin’s mentor Nicole Scherzinger added: “You’ve got the biggest balls in this competition. I need England to vote for you because I know what you’re capable of.

“It’s an honour to have you on this show. We have to have Martin back this week.”

The X Factor: Celebrity airs live Saturday nights.

Other acts appearing in tonight’s episode were EastEnders actor Jonny Labey, Glee star Kevin McHale, reality TV personality Megan McKenna, Coronation Street actress Victoria Ekanoye, footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones and The Chase’s Jenny Ryan.

They were joined by the groups: rugby trio Try Star, Love Island supergroup No Love Lost, social media influencers V5 and duo Max & Harvey.

Another two contestants will be eliminated in the results later tonight.

Plus, there will be a special guest performance from former X Factor winner James Arthur.
