For the first stage of the competition - the heats - episodes will air Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM.

You can watch episodes and catch up online via the BBC iPLayer here.

MasterChef: The Professionals

MasterChef: The Professionals will welcome Michelin-starred chef, Marcus Wareing, highly-reputed chef, Monica Galetti, and celebrated MasterChef judge, Gregg Wallace to the show.

They will be side by side once again to preside over the UK’s most revered cooking competition.

The trio are determined to uncover the hottest new talent - where outstanding skills, commitment and creativity need to be on display to ultimately become worthy of the prestigious Professional MasterChef title.

Monica Galetti said: “This series is going to be fierce. The chefs are going to have to pull out all the stops and keep us on our toes. I cannot wait to discover who is going to emerge on top.”

Marcus Wareing added: “I want bold, I want brilliant and I want beautifully-cooked food. That’s what will get my attention and really help a chef stand out.”

How MasterChef: The Professionals works

MasterChef: The Professionals begins with 48 contestants, who start competing in four heats which will air weekly.

12 chefs will begin the week in each heat with a series of challenges. At the end of each episode, 3 chefs will be eliminated.

The heats will leave a final line up of 12 contestants who face the Knockout Week. The top 8 chefs will automatically progress while the remaining four will cook off for the final two places in the next round.

The then remaining ten chefs will face a new pop-up challenge where a further two will be eliminated.

Semi-final week will see eight become four for the final where they cook to be crowned MasterChef: The Professionals Champion 2019.
