Greg Davies was back in his role as the almighty Taskmaster for the brand new series which recently aired Wednesdays at 9PM on Dave.

The show, which has picked up Emmy, BAFTA, RTS, and Broadcasting Press Guild award nominations – and won Best Entertainment Programme at Broadcast Awards 2018 started on TV in September for ten new episodes.

Series 9 of Taskmaster saw Greg’s faithful underling sidekick, Alex Horne back to accompany the Taskmaster equipped with spreadsheets and stopwatches, eager to facilitate his master’s every whim and adjudicate his loose point system to determine a new winner.

Taskmaster 2019 line up

Competing to win the Taskmaster’s golden likeness and the coveted title of ‘Taskmaster Series 9 Champion’ were: David Baddiel (Olivier Award nominated comedian, author, and presenter), Ed Gamble (comedian, BBC Two’s Mock The Week regular and chart-topping podcaster with Off Menu) and Jo Brand (comedian, writer and star of BAFTA-winning series BBC Four’s Getting On).

Joining them were Katy Wix (comedian and actress featuring in BBC One’s Ghosts, and Channel 4’s The Windsors), and Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018, comedian and writer, ITV’s Royal Variety Performance).

Taskmaster series 9 winner

Subjecting themselves to the Taskmaster’s characteristically unpredictable rulings and flippant scoring system, the band of hopefuls were put through a relentlessly bizarre series of tasks spread over ten nail-biting episodes to determine the next Taskmaster Champion.

In the final on November 6, the winner was crowned as Ed Gamble won Taskmaster series 9. David Baddiel finished fifth, Jo Brand was in fourth, Katy Wix placed third and Rose Matafeo was runner up.

Meanwhile, the Taskmaster Book is now on sale. Titled, 200 Extraordinary Tasks for Ordinary People, the Taskmaster Book was met with huge popularity, sold over 60K copies following publication. A paperback version was released on 5th September, while a Taskmaster boardgame is also now available.
