Little Mix feared being dropped before Black Magic ‘saved their careers’

Little Mix have revealed they were worried about being dropped before single Black Magic ‘saved their careers’.

The group – made up of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirlwall – won The X Factor in 2011.

They were the first group ever to triumph on the show and enjoyed two platinum albums in the immediate years after their victory.

But work on the third record proved more difficult, with Leigh-Anne Pinnock admitting this week: “After our second album, we started writing the third and then it wasn’t going right — it was just not good enough.”

She told Bustle magazine: “It didn’t go together. It wasn’t what we wanted and then we had to scrap it all. At that moment, we actually thought that we were going to get dropped.

“We didn’t think that we were going to keep going. It was horrible. It was a horrible feeling.”

However their single Black Magic changed everything, becoming one of their biggest ever hits.

“That was the turning point. It saved our career,” Leigh-Anne said.

Now the group are working on their brand new sixth studio album less than a year after LM5 which was released in November.

The untitled record will be led by upcoming new single Bounce Back, which is out on Friday.

“I think personally, it’s our favourite,” Jesy told the Daily Mirror of the new song previously. “It’s summery and feel good and very cool and we just love it.

“It just makes you want to dance.”

The new single comes ahead of the group’s upcoming arena tour which starts later this year.
