All Star Musicals 2019 winner crowned in new ITV special

All Star Musicals has crowned its 2019 winner in this weekend’s one-off special.

The all-singing, all-dancing show returned this month (March) after previously first airing at Christmas in 2017.

Hosted by John Barrowman, a brand new one-off special saw seven celebrities flexing their theatrical muscles as they embark on the ultimate musical theatre masterclass in a show stopping one night spectacular.

Each took on iconic songs and scenes from some of the biggest musicals including Chicago, Mamma Mia, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Greatest Showman.

They performed both for a live audience at the London Palladium as well as West End and Broadway’s most distinguished talent; legend Elaine Paige, Broadway icon, Tony and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth, dance sensation Kevin Clifton and West End star Trevor Dion Nicholas.

Those taking part included Broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh, money expert Martin Lewis, Only Fools and Horses actress Tessa Peake Jones, I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp host Joel Dommett and comedian London Hughes.

Joining them were Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank and Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh.

All Star Musicals 2019 winner

The judges scored each performance out of 5 stars, while the studio audience also voted for their favourite. Together, they determined the winner of All Star Musicals 2019.

And it was Corrie’s Daniel who was named the All Stars Musical 2019 champion.

He had performed From Now On from The Greatest Showman, which he reprised as an encore at the end of the show.

Elaine Page presented Daniel with the All Star Musicals trophy, saying: “You definitely brought the house down, you’re a worthy winner.”

Daniel reacted: “I’m feeling elated, I’m glad to be taking this back to Coronation Street!

Alongside the performances from the celebs, there were some special performances from the judges.

Elaine and Kristin shared the stage to sing I Know Him So Well from the musical Chess, while Kevin joined Trevor and the cast of Disney’s Aladdin on West End.
