The two comedies have been dropped by the channel after their latest series last year.

Birds Of A Feather – starring Linda Robson, Pauline Quirke and Lesley Joseph – originally aired on BBC One. ITV revived the show in 2014 after 16 years off air, leading to three series and two Christmas specials.

ITV boss Kevin Lygo said this week: “We had success with Birds of a Feather, that was our most successful sitcom in years, but it’s come to a sort of natural end.”

Lygo also announced the end of sitcom Bad Move. Written by Jack Dee and Pete Sinclair, Bad Move starred Jack Dee as Steve and Kerry Godliman as his wife Nicky who played a couple both on their second marriages who have decided that moving to the Yorkshire countryside from Leeds is the answer to all their dreams.

Two series aired between 2017 and 2018, plus a Christmas special which starred Miles Jupp, Manjinder Virk, Seann Walsh and Philip Jackson.

“We had two series of the Jack Dee sitcom but I don’t think we’re continuing with it now. It’s just very, very hard,” said the ITV chief.
