This evening was the fifth X Factor results show following Saturday’s Big Band themed performances.

Songs from iconic artists including Frankie Valli, Billie Holiday and Bobby Darin got The X Factor treatment.

Sunday saw the results revealed as two more contestants made their exits from the competition.

And it was Shan Ako and Bella Penfold who left The X Factor in tonight’s show.

In the results episode, the public vote was first frozen before host Dermot O’Leary announced the act with the fewest votes who was going home immediately.

With the fewest total votes from the public, it was Bella who was eliminated then and there.

Lines then re-opened for more voting of the remaining seven acts as Cheryl and Tom Walker took to the stage.

Once lines closed for good, Dermot returned to reveal the next two acts with the fewest votes as Shan Ako and duo Acacia & Aaliyah.

They went head to head in the sing off. Acacia & Aaliyah performed Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s Bang Bang while Shan sang Andra Day’s Rise Up.

The judges then had to decide who to send home, with guest judge Nile Rodgers sitting in for an absent Robbie Williams. Nile and Simon both stuck by their acts, sending home Shan and Acacia & Aaliyah respectively.

Ayda Williams sent home Shan home while Louis Tomlinson sent Acacia & Aaliyah home. With the judges’ vote tied, the result went back to deadlock and with the fewest public votes, Shan was eliminated in a truly shock exit.

Now just six acts remain in the contest.

Alongside Acacia & Aaliyah, they are Anthony Russell, Danny Tetley and Scarlett Lee.

Rounding off the current crop of contestants are Brendan Murray and Dalton Andre Harris.
