The new series continued this evening on ITV with its second weekend of live rounds.

Once more, the contestants sang live in front of judges Louis Tomlinson, Ayda Williams, Robbie Williams and Simon Cowell.

The remaining 14 acts were singing songs with a ‘Guilty Pleasures’ theme but there was one thing a lot of viewers couldn’t help but notice: The distinct lack of actual guilty pleasure tracks.

Songs included classic hits by iconic artists including Whitney Houston, Elvis and Dame Shirley Bassey.

On Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Watching @TheXFactorUK with the Mrs and this week is “guilty pleasure” and I’ve heard a song from Whitney Houston and one from Elvis.. how the hell are those 2 people guilty pleasures”

Another agreed: “Not to be that person but none of these songs are guilty pleasures”

“@TheXFactor where’s the guilty pleasures tonight? Not many. Pointless having theme,” added a third.

And a fourth added: “It’s X factor guilty pleasure week yet none of the songs are guilty pleasures they’re just normal songs.”

Contestant Danny Tetley, who performed Crazy For You by Madonna, even spoke up to complain about others not sticking to theme.

Twitter was right behind him, with one writing in response: “@danny_tetley YES DANNY!!! Well said. Some songs are definitely NOT guilty pleasures!!!! Good for him. #TheXFactor”

“I agree Danny !! The theme is GUILTY PLEASURE!! #XFactor,” another posted.

However some acts definitely did stick to the theme, with United Vibe performing Party In The USA while Giovanni Spano gave a unique take on Britney Spears hit Hit Me Baby One More Time.

As always, the judges offered their opinions before the voting lines opened for viewers to have their say for the second time this series.
